Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Taple app for macOS and this website, taple.app.

No accounts, no analytics

Taple has no accounts. Official builds of Taple do not collect analytics or crash reports.

Your recordings stay on your Mac

Recordings, projects and captions are stored only on your Mac. Taple uses screen, camera and microphone access only while you are recording.

Captions and noise reduction

Captions and noise reduction run on your Mac. The first time you use captions, Taple downloads the Whisper model from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). That request is subject to Hugging Face’s privacy policy.

AI Edit

AI Edit is optional and does nothing until you add an API key from apimodels.app, Anthropic or OpenAI. The key is stored in your macOS Keychain. When you run AI Edit, Taple sends the transcript (made on your Mac), still frames from the recording and the timing of your clicks to that provider, and the provider’s privacy policy applies. Your video and audio files are not uploaded.

AI agents

When you connect an AI agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop or Cursor, Taple adds itself to that app’s settings file and keeps a backup of the original. The agent talks to Taple through a local connection on your Mac. It can read the same transcript, frames and click timing as AI Edit and sends them to its own AI provider, whose privacy policy applies.

Feedback

When you send feedback from Settings, Taple posts your message to taple.app, which emails it to us through Resend (resend.com). It includes your email address only if you enter one, system information (Taple and macOS version, chip, Mac model and language) unless you turn it off, and recent logs only if you turn them on, with your home folder replaced by ~. To stop repeated sends, taple.app remembers your IP address for 30 seconds. We use feedback only to reply to you and to improve Taple.

Updates and changelog

To check for updates, Taple requests the latest release information from GitHub (github.com). The changelog in Settings is loaded from taple.app, which gets it from GitHub. GitHub’s privacy policy applies to requests to GitHub.

This website

taple.app has no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is served by Cloudflare, which may process standard request logs.
